2. What is the difference between Wax, Wax-Resin, and Resin Ribbons? Wax, wax-resin, and resin ribbons are all used in thermal transfer printing, and their main difference is the durability of the final print.
- Wax Ribbons: The most economical option, ideal for paper-based labels and general-purpose use in dry, non-abrasive environments. Prints are susceptible to smudging and scratching.
- Wax-Resin Ribbons: A hybrid blend that offers a higher level of durability, with good resistance to smudges and moderate chemicals. Best for coated paper and some synthetic labels.
- Resin Ribbons: The most durable ribbons, creating a virtually permanent bond with the label. They are essential for printing on Non-Tearable Labels, as these materials can only be printed with a resin ribbon to ensure a durable and long-lasting print.
3. Are your labels compatible with my printer? Yes, our labels are designed to be compatible with all major printer brands. We offer Woodfree/Maplitho Labels in sheet form for standard inkjet and laserjet printers, and our Thermal Transfer and Direct Thermal Labels are compatible with all standard thermal label printers.

Direct Thermal Labels are a cost-effective solution for short-term use, as they do not require a ribbon and create an image using heat. Thermal Transfer Labels use a ribbon to create a permanent, durable print that is resistant to smudging, chemicals, and extreme temperatures, making them ideal for long-term applications.
